Boys' Brigade

The object of the boys' brigade is the advancement of Christ's kingdom among boys and the promotion of habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, self respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.

The basic unit of the organisation is the company which is broken into different age groups with a programme of activities to suit each age group, starting with the anchor boys, then the junior section, the company section and the seniors. Our company is attached to St John's Parish Church who are responsible for the Christian education element.

All members wear uniform which encourages smartness and self respect as well as a feeling of identity. As well as the normal standard weekly programme of activities and drills, there are many other outings and competitions to keep the boys interested with future events being shown below.

The various sections meet (Setember-June) in the church halls or Onthank School at the following times:

Mondays

  • Anchor Boys - 6.15 pm - 7.30 pm - Church Hall
  • Junior Section - 7.30 pm - 9 pm - Onthank School

Fridays

  • Company Section - 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm - Onthank School

As ages for each section can vary slightly, come along on a Monday night to find out more about the boys' brigade and to see what section is appropriate for your boy.
